1. New Workshop: How Can We Make Congress More Effective?
A number of recent polls have indicated that faith in Congress is at an all-time low. Many politicos are calling our current batch of representatives the worst in recorded history. In a survey that went viral in January, Public Policy Polling found that more Americans approve of colonoscopies than of Congress.
Something is obviously wrong when the nation’s legislative body is a punchline. Maybe it’s the way they’re elected; maybe it’s the culture of Washington. Whatever the cause, we need to figure out (or, rather, remember) how to effectively govern ourselves if we are to overcome the country’s many challenges. Please help us make Congress better. Join the workshop How Can We Make Congress More Effective? and brainstorm ways to break the gridlock.
2. In-person Workshop: From Framing to Flagging

4. From the Blog: Tell It Like It Is
This week Civinomics CMO Robert Singleton explains why Civinomics is different from other social media sites in a new video blog series entitled “Tell It Like It Is.” Robert explains that while most other websites attempt to replicate a real-life experience, such as hanging out with friends or sharing photos, Civinomics seeks to create a brand new experience. “Most people don’t even have an offline civic experience,” he says. View it here.
5. Updates from The Gov 2.0 Space
A new video was released talking about the partnership between Code for America and the city of Oakland. It does a great job of telling the story about the paradigm shift of in civic engagement that is rapidly expanding to cities all across the world. See the video for yourself here.
And don’t forget to apply as a CfA fellow! The deadline is in two days!!!
That’s all for now. Thanks for reading, and have a great week.
